• Listing text you paste: When you use our Scam Checker tool, the listing text you paste is analyzed entirely in your browser. We do not transmit, store, or log the text you paste. All analysis happens client-side using JavaScript.
• Listing URLs you submit: When you submit a listing link, our server temporarily retrieves that public page so its contents can be read and analyzed. For sites that block automated access, the public URL may instead be passed to a free third-party reader service that retrieves the page on our behalf. We do not retain the URL or the fetched listing content after the request completes. Standard technical logs (handled by our hosting provider and, where used, the reader service) may record limited request metadata such as time, response status, and IP address, but not the listing content.
• Email address: If you voluntarily subscribe to our email alerts, we collect your email address. We use this solely to send rental scam alerts and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Analytics data: If analytics are enabled, they record only aggregated usage (such as page views, referral source, and device type) and never the listing text or URLs you check. This data does not identify you personally.
• Cookies: We use cookies for Google AdSense (advertising) and basic site analytics. You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings.

How We Use Information

Google AdSense & Cookies

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our website. Google AdSense uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your browsing patterns.

How We Handle Listing Data

When you paste listing text directly into our Scam Checker, all analysis is performed client-side in your browser using JavaScript. The text is never sent to our servers or any third party.

When you submit a listing URL, our server fetches the page content to extract listing details for analysis. This data is processed in memory only and is not stored, logged, or retained after the request completes. We do not build any database of checked listings or URLs.

Data Security

We use HTTPS encryption for all website traffic. We do not maintain databases of user-submitted listing text or URLs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may retain standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp, URL requested) as part of normal operations.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Request access to any personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your personal data
• Opt out of personalized advertising
• Unsubscribe from email communications at any time
